This is my uncle. He used to and sometimes still does hair. I think I found this in one of our photo albums somewhere. I find it very interesting that there was an announcement put in the newspaper saying that he moved. He must have had a lot of followers. I suppose this post isn't so much about the photograph but more about media and how it's changed.

Does this even happen these days? Does anyone care if a hairstylist has moved? Let alone does anyone even post these things in the paper? With things like craigslist and such classifieds in newspapers are obsolete (I mean newspapers are almost obsolete as it is). I don't know if it's good or bad but none-the-less it's happening.

It is also interesting that it was totally cool to post your picture and where you work in the newspaper. But, when it's put on the internet it's a different story. Just things to think about.

As for the picture it's pretty funny. Check out that mustache!

Analyze

My mom has worked at the same place for the past 27 years or something like that. It's called North American Photo. They are a photo plant and print professional work. When there was still such a thing as film that people were using they were doing great but the digital switch over has hurt them a lot.

But, this is a picture of my mom's work. She's actually the second one from the right. I think that this was for some sort of ad in a magazine maybe. Or it might have just been a test shot or something. This was taken back when she first started working there. Something about photos of photography equipment always gets me. They are all on machines that analyze the color of the pictures. My mom's job title used to be Photo Analyzer but now she is like the master of all things digital (I don't know the official title).

What happens on these machines is they feed the negative through the machine and I think that it's projected and you can see how much cyan, magenta, and so forth need to be added. They make the note on the order so that when it goes to get printed the person knows what to dial to. So, needless to say my mom has an eye for color and contrast.

Baskte Full of Cute

This is one of the first pictures that didn't come from my own collection. I got this one from a little shop at Kerrytown Market, Ann Arbor called Found. They had some pretty decent stuff and the price was okay, I think they were a quarter a piece. It'll be interesting since I don't know much or sometimes anything about the pictures I picked up most of the time I'll be talking about the aesthetics of what drew me to the picture in the first place.

Well, besides this being a picture of cuteness in a basket, the lighting and the lines in this photo really pulled me in. Even in the darkest shadows you can still see details. I love how the diagonal line of the shadow at the top of the picture and the line of the concrete frames the basket of kittens.

The white mom in contrast with the black kittens is kind of creepy. She's almost like a ghost because of how blasted the light is on her. If you look closely it looks like there might be just one little white kitty in the pile of black.

Puppy Love

So, for real this time, I'm actually going to keep up on this thing. I got some new photos months ago that I would love to share. I was going to start off with one of those but decided that I wanted to start with one that I had some sort of background on.

I'm going to guess that this is Luke. This is the dog my parents had before I was born. The only reason that I think it is him is because of the hint of the black and white towel in the background. we actually still have that towel.

This is another one of those pictures that I just love the colors. Just the contrast between the puke green carpet and the silky black fur of the dog along with bright blue ball really make this picture. Not to mention who could resist a look like that. It looks like he wants that ball thrown soo bad.

Hay Ride

Okay, so this picture isn't that old but, that is an old Pepsi can there. One, I just thought this was kinda funny cause my grandma looks kind of hilarious. She also looks gigantic compared to me. Oh yea! That's little me sitting there in my overall's (probably osh kosh bgosh) eating a chip. I'm probably about 2 years-old here. I chose this picture because it seemed fitting for the time of year. This was taken at my Grandparents place Up North (for any one who doesn't live in Michigan Up North reffers basicly to any cottage or cabbin that someone goes to for vacation. Time to get to the place doesn't matter. It could take 20 min or 5 hours. Also, Up North doesn't nessicarily have to be going in the compass direction North). I believe we were going for a hay ride around the property, at least thats what it looks like. I feel like this was the year that they finished the pull barn and had a halloween party in it. I could be totally wrong though. I remember dancing and music and lots of food.

The Water so Clear

Hah, so this is my dad in what he thinks is about 1969, so he's about 10 years old there. The color of the water is beautiful along with the brick in the background. My dad looks pissed. He's probably freezing.

Oh sorry it's been so long. But, I'm starting up again. Hopefully a post a day.

Photo Booth

This is my mom and dad. Neither of them could remember where or when this was. But, it was obviously a photo booth. My mom thinks its when they were about 21.
